Day 2. (PM) Boarding the Ship

We stood on our balcony while the ship was leaving port and had a good view of Vancouver as we were leaving.  It wasn't too long before it was time to go to dinner.  On the first night of the cruise, dinner is always informal, so I just put on some jeans and we headed back downstairs.  During our walk earlier, we had stopped in the dining room to see where our table was.  We were a little worried because we had been put at a table for ten.  We didn't want the two of us stuck with a family of eight.  That's just not comfortable.  It turned out we were there with four other couples.  We had Tony and Alice from Florida, Terry and Karen from Michigan, Gunnar and Mat from San Francisco, and Jacque and Cecilia from Ottawa.  Everybody was real nice and there was a lot of good conversation.  There was so much conversation going on, when the head waiter came over to introduce himself, he thought we were all family or at least traveling together.  Our Waiter's name is Remi, the assistant waiter is Melissa, and the headwaiter's name is Soni.  As soon as we finished our dessert, Malissa and I left and headed to the Crown and Anchor lounge to get her status corrected.  We got there at 7:34 and the loyalty ambassador had already left.
The only thing left to do was to go to the casino.  Malissa started on the slot machines and I headed to the craps table.  When I got there, nobody was playing, so I went ahead and got things started.  I was having a good time (read "winning") and talking to the dealers.  One of them looked real familiar to me but I didn't pursue that.  Later, she was standing next to me and began asking what cruises I'd been on.  It turned out she had been a crappier (that's the proper term for a craps dealer, although everyone just calls them dealers) on the Rhapsody of the Seas when we had sailed on it and she remembered me from there.  At one point things started to get bad at the craps table and I cashed out with $262 (I had started with $200).  I decided to play some slots, but lost $60 really quick, so I went back to the craps table.  I played for quite a while but eventually lost my allowance for the day.  At that point I quit and was done for the day.
