Day 3.  A day at sea.

I woke up at 7:30 this morning and wished I hadn't, but I couldn't get back to sleep so I got dressed and headed to the gym.  I really want to keep up my exercise routine this vacation, and that can be really hard on a cruise.  As I walked to the other end of the ship, I could really feel the waves.  We've had really rough seas ever since we left Galveston.  I was feeling a little queasy.  I don't know if that's because of the motion of the ship or the amount of gin I drank last night.  When I got to the gym, it was packed.  Every piece of equipment was in use and there was a Palates class or something like that going on.  That's all I needed to convince myself to go back to the room.  I laid down for a half hour or so, but couldn't get back to sleep, so I decided to head to the Windjammer for some breakfast.  I didn't want to go back to the room and wake everybody up after I ate, so I went out on the pool deck for a while, but it was cold out there.  I decided to go to the promenade deck and get Alex a toothbrush and got up to the room while Malissa was trying to get him out of bed.  They were going to get some breakfast, so I decided to try my luck at the casino for a while.  They don't have the tables open in the morning, so I blew $40 in the slot machines about as fast as I could get the money into the machines and I headed back to the room.  Nobody was there, so I decided to try the gym again.  It was still crowded, but I really needed to get my workout in so I stayed.  I got back to the room about the same time Malissa did.  She had left Alex up on deck playing basketball and was just getting some money to take to the casino.  I decided to take a short nap.  Short is the key word here.  About 20 minutes after I lay down, room service was knocking on the door with some complementary chocolate covered strawberries and as soon as room service left, Malissa came back.  She didn't look too well so I told her to get some rest and I took another $40 down to the casino.  When I got there this time, though, I saw the craps table was open so I headed straight for it.  They were just getting things started so I tossed my seapass card onto the table and asked for $100 (I found out later they now charge 3% for getting out cash).  Since they were still getting the table set up, it was taking a long time to get my money and the first shooter was getting ready to start.  I threw my $40 onto the table and got my bet in and things went great.  This woman shot the dice for almost an hour and I cashed out with over $600.  Woo-hoo!  Made up for last night and this morning with some left over.  We headed to dinner and found that one of the guys that plays craps all the time was at the table next to us, so we had someone to talk to for a little while.  Malissa decided she wanted to stay at the table we were already at, and I think that's the final word on it.  After dinner we went to the concierge lounge for a drink, then headed to the casino.  I only took $200 (so I wouldn't lose all my earlier winnings) and started out really good.  I cashed out after about an hour with $450.  I went and pumped some of that into the slot machines (that never takes very long), then went to the Connoisseur lounge.  I wasn't in there very long and got the urge to go back to the craps table for a while.  I was actually there for quite a while, but in the end lost all the money I had with me.  Alex was in Adventure Ocean and Malissa was still winning at slots, so I headed back to the room and went to bed.
